I can't check for updates for some reason. The thing is, I think this may be part of a larger issue with connectivity. I'm also having connection issues with gmail and youtube as well. In Gmail, sometimes things don't load after I click on them, and I can't attach files to e-mails. Another forum I like to go to loads very slowly on firefox and won't load at all on IE 11. My internet appears to be fine as most sites aren't giving me trouble that I know of. Are they all connected?

I did do a windows update last week and installed a bunch of security updates and everything seemed fine then. So, what's going on? I can't attach the CBS folder, as it is way too big. It is 285 MB. Is that normal?

I ran SURT and it installed hotfix KB947821 and it didn't fix anything. I then ran sfc /verifyonly and it said there were no violations.

Hi Canuck or Die & welcome to sevenforums.

Probably some corrupt/missing files/folders

CBS folder can be large don't need entire folder

Run SURT & post CheckSUR.log

located at: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS

No, my problem is that it's failing to check for updates at all. It always comes back with error code 80072EE2.

Have you considered Repair Install will correct your problem.

You'll need 25 character Windows product key & Win7x64 DVD.

Do you have them?

Is there any other solution? I'd rather not have to re-install windows. Would the latest security updates have anything to do with it? I last installed updates last Friday. So, windows Update was still working then.

Repair install preserves all your installed programs, files, folder, pictures, music, etc. just replaces win7

Could be KB issue, can you see the updates that were installed?
Windows Update> Installed Updates.
Try uninstalling the ones after the time/date that you didn't have your issue.
.net is sometimes a culprit, try uninstalling those, if installed after your issue. You can then download & install them manually.

I uninstalled the updates, but the problem still remains. What does 80072EE2 even mean, anyways?

IF you have this update installed please uninstall it and then reinstall.
As well as changing your update options from whatever it is to the opposite and back again..
(automatic to turn Off >> turn Off to automatic)
It caused problems on its original release, and from your cbs logs this is when your problem began.

On another note did you do anything to the W10 folders, to stop the install?

Yeah, I already uninstalled that update and reinstalled it earlier. I'm still getting the same error. I did just uninstall it again just now, however.

What do you mean by the W10 folders?

W10

From your reply id say you answered my question, no.

there are a couple of new folders created by the Get windows 10 pre-install, the main 1 being GWX.

Did you change your Updates settings???
