Has anyone else noticed that during last few days there has been almost 20 updates from windows update to Win 7? Could be obvious if it's related to the release Win 7.

I would imagine they are pushing out the updates now to ensure that people that update once W7 has been released properly, have a fully updated system.
They will still be poking about trying to find vunerabilities in the OS even this close to launch - and will be for some time yet. Frequent updates must be expected!
Microsoft releases updates on the second Tuesday of every month. That's why Updates came out early for 7. Otherwise people with Windows 7 would be vulnerable to exploits for a couple of weeks (unless they deviated from the patch schedule which they are mostly reluctant to do).

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.

I've gotten several, and mine come through the internal WSUS servers that I manage. MS usually lags behind in getting the updates to WSUS so im pleased to see they were on the ball with these.
