windows update installing 157 updates 0kb of 0% complete

hey guys, im trying to update my computer with updates but it is refusing to move, i left it alone for an hour and refuses to move, i ran a sfc/scannow and it said it found some files but was unable to fix all of them im downloading and installing that feb 2013 thing now, but does anyone have a step by step solution or anything like that?

No actually this is a pretty old install before windows 7 got released, it was the official RTM build 7600. i did do a scan thing
SFC /SCANNOW
and it said couldnt fix some problemsI then ran this program

to help, and now im trying to shutdown my computer for the last 2 hours and its stuck on installing update 31 of 34, the problem is it says its working, the circles moving the dots are moving but it has been on 31 of 34 for at least 1 hr 30 min and im kinda afraid of turning it off, i do have a system restore point before this whole mess happened i believe

Might as well try that mate and as it doesn't sound like it is going anywhere fast.

You might try a chkdsk too and then yep a system restore I know you probably already know it usually gives you a couple of choices but you can get much earlier ones by clicking on that box in the system restore option.

yup tbh xps system restore was a helluva lot better than windows 7's glad i made one point before i even decided to update. so i wont lose anything, might do a check disk first and then a system restore or should i do it the otherway round...

Ok, the problem just got worse, i can no longer get into windows, comes up with black screen with mouse cursor still able to move, but im unable to do anything... i cant believe this... all because of this update crap. does anyone know what to do, ive looked up so many fixes for these and i dont even know where to begin...
and system restore fails keeps giving me error 0x80070002

Have a look at this....

You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services

I'm guessing that there is a more definite underlying issue here...thinking hardware, either that there are some corrupted/missing drivers or faulty/failing hardware...eg HDD, CPU.

cant do that, as said in post... i cant even login anymore, when the computer starts, it goes to black screen and white cursor nothing else, i tried to undo system restore via repair disc and thats how the error came up, i just tried a startup repair and i got a automatic failure after about 1 hour, im uploading 2 screenshots along with this post

EDIT: Right now its not letting me post them, i get a white screen on the pop up after it seems to have finished uploading
and what if i could do chkdisk /f on command prompt? think that could work?

Ok i dunno how,but i was able to get it to boot, i guess even though it said system restore failed it actually completed i dunno, but now i have a new problem, i cant shut down my computer without it trying to install the updates downloaded and i think it will cause the crashes again. i dont think the updates fully downloaded last time and that led me to my original problem when i started this thread, how can i clean up the update cache so i can redownload these updates without screwing up my computer, im to scared to shut it down until i can redownload these updates completely or stop these updates from installing

i dunno what the hell is going on anymore, windows tries to boot, tells me to do startup repair, goes to black screen with nothing, i try running of a disk, it asks me to enter keyboard setup, i choose US, all i get is background screen, no other prompts to follow. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, i cant believe this... all because of trying to install updates...

Computer black screen movable mouse after a series of issues

Guys ive started a new thread because the issue got more complicated
Im trying to update my computer with updates but it is refusing to move, i left it alone for an hour and refuses to move, and was stuck on 31 of 34 installed, so i had no choice but to restart

after that it tried to redownload updates again which caused my issue 157 0kb of 0% from the previous thread so ive been looking around on the internet on my laptop i ran a sfc/scannow and it said it found some files but was unable to fix all of them. I also tried using that fix it thing



After i ran a SFC/scannow it didnt fix anything, so i tried a system restore about a week back before i even decided to update, this is where things got disastrous.
For some reason my computer plain refused to boot, i had to keep switching between my windows 7 ultimate disc and my win 7 professional startup repair disc and run startup repair 10 times before i could even get windows to boot up and even then it just gave me a black screen with moveable mouse cursor

Then i tried running system restore from the recovery options to the same spot, for some reason even though the system restore itself failed, it actually got me in back into my computer

What happens now is that my computer is on, but i cannot turn it off or restart my computer because the updates that failed to install but have been downloaded and are ready to install are there and i cant shut them down without the entire problem happening all over again,

Please does anyone have any ideas? id rather not have to reformat my computer, i have backed what i wanted up in case of that eventuality but i don't want to if i can avoid it.

This thread can be closed i followed that maximum pc guide and did a "upgrade" installation over my windows, everythings working fine now, but i wont be trying updates or system restore again until i decide to do a full on clean boot

Ok MF if this happens again I woud be very tempted t dump the hard drive or at least get it thoroughly tested and reinstall a new OEM. I personally don't like upgrades mate as I have just been through a lot of rot with my brothers machines when I was in the UK recently and his problems were all upgrade related.
Like I said for the cost of a new hard drive and OEM it really isn't worth it.

another thing you can do is to downlaod the ISO and use the activation code you already have onto a new HDD.
