Hi

After your great help with my last problem i'm back with another (the price of success!)

Windows 7 ultimate - some updates are installing OK, some are being repeated after a successful installation & the IE10 update repeatedly fails with error code 9C59.

I've tried MS Fixit. I've done a repair install of Win7 ultimate, which improved things a little (before that, updates KB2667402 & KB982018 would continually fail).

CBS.zip & windowsupdate.log are attached.

Here's some background which may be relevant:
I started with Win 7 pro, which turned out to be non-genuine (ebay!). Windows updates stopped working because it was non-genuine. Microsoft supplied a new copy of Win7 ultimate, which I installed via a custom installation. I didn't do a clean install because I used a 3rd party product call PCmover to include all applications & settings in the upgrade to Win7 ultimate. All has been OK with Win7 ultimate except the updates.

THanks

The only relevant thing I can see is that some updates are being blocked by server regulation - it seems that some of the MS servers are having problems coping with the demand, and so throttling the download of updates, which is causing a timeout error.

I'd actually avoid installing IE10 for a week or so to allow the servers time to recover - do NOT try to force the install.

Thanks for looking Noel. I might turn off updates for a few days, and leave the IE10 update for a few weeks.

There are about 6 .NET updates that are still repeating despite apparently installing succesfully.

The .NET 4 updates that are repeating are:
KB2742595
KB2737019
KB2789642
KB2729449
KB2604121
KB2804576
KB2656351

I'll look at Aaron Stebner's cleanup tool. Do I need to do a normal uninstall via windows control panel before using the cleanup tool?

THanks

No - Aaron's tool will clear the lot without bothering to go through the uninstallers :)
Simply run the tool as suggested, and then reinstall either .NET 4 or .NET 4.5 (which is effectively an upgrade on 4.0)

An update - I used Aaron Stebner's cleanup tool to remove .NET4, installed .NET 4.5 and all is well with the updates.
Great! Thanks!
The IE10 update still fails though - I suspect this may be due to a corrupted/interrupted download, from what you said earlier Noel & also since a download of this update restarted part way through the file. I'll leave the IE10 update for now...
