My HP desktop is a 32 bit system loaded with Vista Home Premium. I attempted to upgrade to 7 Home Premium using my boot disk from my 64 bit Acer laptop. All appeared to work well until I got an installation freeze for "Launch Manager II 9/28". Nothing happens after this so I did a complete wipe of Vista for a clean install of 7 thinking this may be the problem. I still get to 9/28 of the Launch Manager install and it just hangs. I unplugged all usb cords except keyboard and mouse and re-booted with no success. Why is my computer stuck at this Launch Manager? I can tell the install was on its way to being successful because when the computer starts I see Windows 7 Home Premium and "preparing computer for first use". How do I get this installation to finish? I am a complete novice so you will really have to break this down for me.
Thanks

My plan was to use the same Activation Key that came with the Acer laptop. Was this not a good idea? How badly have I screwed this up?

If thios is an OEM system from Acer, it will not work. Buy a Win7 upgrade or retail or OEM installation disk.

In addition, even if it was not an OEM version, you could not activate two Windows setups with one key. One installation, one key.
