Windows will not allow me to format drive C: this is driving me nuts!!

Hi all!
I have aquired a new but secondhand net book from a friend,
it was running so slow!
i decided to reinstall windows but with there being no cdrom drive i had to rip it onto my friends pc and transfer it over to the netbook and use daemon tools to install it.
i installed windows onto drive d: hoping to beable to format drive c after installation but windows will not allow this!
i have tried installing windows back onto drive c: but it wants to put yhe old files into a folder which i do not want to do i want a clean hdd then a new version of windows to be installed
every attemp i have tried to format this drive has failed
please please someone shed sum light on this for me or give me a solution!!!!! its driving me insane!!!!!!

When you boot your new installation, Is Windows the [D] drive ?

You will need the COA key to activate Windows.
Do you have a USB Flash drive you can use for the installation ?

All this is explained in the tutorial, take your time and read it over.
I'm not an installation expert, but ask back with any questions and someone here will help you.

One common thing about Windows is that it will not reformat the HDD or partition it is booted to, won't 'kill' itself. I'd surmise there's enough of Windows left on the C: drive to prevent reformatting. The procedures already mentioned may be the only way to go.

I would stick with only the steps, tools and methods in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 which provides everything needed to get and keep a perfect install. A million consumers have used the tutorial without a single complaint.

The problem with daemon tools is that you have to boot the system first before you can mount the iso of the installer. You need to be able to boot from the install disk. You need to either create a bootable thumb drive with the Win 7 install files or use an external optical drive with a physical install disk.
