Windows XP computer won't share with Windows 7 computer

Hi,

I have several Windows XP 64bit professional computers that have been sharing fine with a Windows 7 computer. I use the same user name and password for all the computers. But recently a couple of them have the problem that when I try to access their discs from the Windows 7 machine the dialogue box comes up saying Enter Network Password. I put in the same password for the "Name of windows7 computer"\Username I always have and it just comes back with the same dialogue box. When I try to access the problem XP 64bit computer's drive from another XP 64bit computer there is no problem.I've also tried putting in the same Username and password into the "Use another account" box and no difference. I on the XP 64bit computer under sharing I have Everyone given Full Control, read and write all ticked. I also have the single user name with all these permissions ticked. Please could you give some advice.

Also from the all the XP 64bit machines I can access the c drive of the Windows 7 computer even from the ones where I can't access their C drives from the Windows 7 machine.

Turn off password protected sharing:

Right click on Network and select Properties.
Click on Change advanced sharing settings at left.
Click the down arrow next to All Networks at the bottom.
Select Turn off password protected sharing.
Click the Save changes button.

Thanks for input Rich. I think you pointed me in the right direction. On the XP machine I turned on Simple File Sharing using this method (now not a problem:

Turn Off Password Protection
Step 1
Click the "Start" button, then click the "My Computer" icon.

Step 2
Click the "Tools" menu and select "Folder Options." You will see a tabbed window of settings.

Step 3
Click the "View" tab. Scroll down the list of options until you see "Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended)."

Step 4
Click the check box to enable simple file sharing. When you do, other users in the same network work group can open your shared folders without providing a password. If your login screen has a password, this is still in force.
