It could also be your DVD drive. Will another bootable disk work?

This was one of the first steps I gave you, even providing the latest official ISO with SP1 and a tool to easily write to flash stick and burn to DVD:

Download the latest official ISO with SP1 from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to burn to DVD or write to flash stick with tool provided. This will rule out the installer since it is a possible cause.

Later I suggested doing both to eliminate the installer as cause:

Do you have confidence in the installer? It wouldn't hurt to download the latest and burn to DVD, then write to flash stick so you eliminate that as possibility.

I realize there was a lot going on to comprehend but I hope you stuck closely to the steps to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which are the same for retail.

Enjoy Win7.

Yes that was one step that you had listed I was cycling back through what we had discussed.

How does one test the DVD/ blue ray/ HDVD drive for errors?

Also I have the Nvidia Quadro 4000 is it better to install latest from Nvidia? (dont want any complications from win 7 OS update)?

As it states in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 it's best to run with the drivers provided by the installer and then quickly updated via optional Windows Updates. I'd only provide drivers if they are missing in Device Manager, or if performance requires the change.

Find another bootable disk to see if it will boot and cue up. If you don't have another then Free Partition Wizard is a great tool to have on hand, you can run a File System Check on C to test it.

I did the USB option so i don't know yet. I might just go out and pull the drive off my old computer (which is newer than the one in the machine)..

I've installed all the drivers and everything has been found except the nvidia driver is still being questioned even though it has been installed. Just going to do my image backup now to make sure everything is as it should be. Hopefully the backup will work this time round.

Also I have a tendancy to take snapshots in time with imaging tools on XP. Is it just a matter of dumping the image contents in another folder or is there more to it?

Yes I tried to boot the factory mobo driver disk had a easy dos utility that booted into dos without any issues.

It just seamed like everytime i installed 7 something randomly did not work properly or was missing. The consistancy was not there so this was why i was presuming maybe the disk is a defective disk. If this is true should i go after microsoft or the vendor? I don't know how i could possibly have damaged the disk as this was the first time I opened the case

Did you use the latest official installer ISO w/SP1 download which was provided you?

Were there missing drivers after all Updates requiring installing the chipset drivers? Did you run with the drivers Win7 wants for awhile to see if there were performance problems?

Where did you get WIn7?

Yes and i had only installed the mobo and display drivers. I have not connected to the internet yet. I attempted to do backup in the hope should anything go wrong this time i can proceed with restoring from clean install. Should i connect to the net and do updates or should i format and start again?

Nothing has been installed from ms update yet.

The only driver questioned is the display (Windows cannot verify digital signatures for the drivers required for this devicce. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file signed incorrctly or damage. or that might be malicious software from an unknown source (code 52))

It states clearly in Clean Reinstall to use the drivers given by installer and quickly updated via optional Windows Updates. This is not XP - Win7 is the authority on what drivers it wants.

Only if there are missing drivers or performance problems would I import any drivers.

Put your LAN driver on a stick/CD just in case you need it to get online to update.

Windows 7 came from the computer shop.

Ok and yes I have the lan on the stick it was always the missing driver .

I'll format and try again with lan and windows updates only. I wasn't aware 7 became the authority and yes totally used to XP. Hopefully that will eliminate the issues.

Well letting the installer do updates came back with errors out the door. I gave up letting windows control which updates as most of them failed. Then attempting to clean install off of the usb became an issue so i went back to the DVD. The first time worked like a charm (which was cool). I'm not sure why windows 7 is so tempermental in doing clean installs its almost like it has a mind of its own.

I started with the mobo usb, intel mobo drivers(did not install the intel raid drivers, as they had been causing issues as well) and the lan driver. I then proceeded installing Nvidia driver by itself from windows and that worked great.

Right now windows has a total of 52 important updates. I installed down to the last 17-15 (one by one in sequence before i began getting serious issues) I did instll windows IE9 first (bad idea) which i was hoping to get back to and reinstall but alas the major crash happened first. I also did the defender updates and malicious software remover prior to the initial updates.

I think ive narrowed in on which updates they are as they have been crashing everything to the point of unrepariable, not resorable and no safemode access. I belive the updates in question have to do with intel as they immediately caused major problems or issues. Apparently im not the only one and was not aware they had been a promblem for the past couple of years.

Wish there was a site that dictated which updates not to install at clean install or windows remove them so that people dont install them.

On another note ive memorized my product key :D and im glad im running AMDs W7 in the rest of the house as they have not seen this carnage and i can research the errors coming up

Set a restore point before each group of Updates so that you can System Restore from System Recovery Options if an Update malfunctions. You can then narrow down the group to the problem update by installing them singly with Restore Points. Once you find the problem Update post it up here in our Updates forum and start a Support case on Windows Updates website.

actually it did that for each update (set restore). The major malfunction voided all of that though:rolleyes:

Remember the old gui for vista or xp when booting into windows. Well it decided that was windows 7 new logo.

Thats why i said the dvd was random. its never the same issue it always seemed to forget something or crash.

This is why I suggested yesterday you might need to wipe the HD before reinstalling with Diskpart Clean Command, since some performance problems can result from bad boot sector code which carries over.
