WinMedia Player tries to open all programs HELP

All Windows 7 programs and applications on Windows PC want to open using Windows Media Player.
Error message: "The file you are attempting to play has an extension (.exe) that does not match the file format. Playing the file may result in unexpected behavior."

How would you fix this? This occurred when the speaker didn't load in the systray; user was trying to find a way to access speaker.

Sounds like a problem with the File Associations with Windows Media Player (WMP). You can check what file associations you have with WMP by using the Set Default Programs wizard, in Windows 7. Here is how
