Solved Wired network adapter is experiencing problems

Hi all,

I was playing Batman: Arkham Asylum through the Steam network last night when the game froze and then crashed to the desktop. I couldn't do anything or see anything to click on, so I did a hard reboot. When Windows came back on, I couldn't connect to the internet and got the "wired network adapter is experience problems" message. After troubleshooting it says that the drivers for the adapter may have problems.

The adapter in question is a Trendnet N-Gaming adapter for connecting to the wireless internet in the house. I've tried unplugging it and re-plugging it and resetting the router and modem. My roommate accessed the router from his laptop and said that the router sees and is supposedly communicating with the adapter, but it's just not getting to the computer. I tried updating the Realtek driver, that didn't work. Neither did rolling the driver back. I tried doing a system restore only to have the computer crash again.

I really don't know what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you run the Network Troubleshooter after the driver update? (In Control Panel; see pic)

I've had network problems which were only cured by completely uninstalling the adapter and letting Windows remove the driver, reinstalling it from scratch, then setting up a new network connection from scratch. It sounds like a pain but it's often easier in the long run.

I went into the device manager, told it to uninstall the card and delete the drivers. Then I used the CD that came with my mb to reinstall the card/drivers. Rebooted. Still can't connect.

I have a Trendnet Wireless-N card in a spare computer. As I recall, it said to install the Trendnet software and not use the built-in Windows Wireless network wizard. Have you messed with the Trendnet stuff?

There's no internal software that I've found to play with, as it's supposed to be plug-n-play. The closest thing I've found is the setup wizard. The Trendnet website doesn't have much other software to download besides that. I included a pic of it below. My guess had been that the crash after playing that game reset or corrupted something in the adapter itself since the router recognizes the adapter and is talking to it, but no information is getting to the actual computer, but after uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter card I'm not sure.

Can you grab a screenshot of your Network Adapter(s) from Device Manager?

Ok, so I did a reinstall of windows and drivers and the thing works now. I don't know what was the deal. I noticed that the utility tool for the adapter works and sees things now, whereas before it didn't. So not sure what happened. Thanks for the attempted help anyways, prof.
