Hi,

Does anyone know how to make WireGuard work on Windows 7 ?

Tried without third party firewall and on two (HW and OS similar machines).

Thank you!
:)

It's web page, at the download section, says it's compatible with Windows 7.
What problem have you found?

Tested various scenarios and found, that it has nothing to do with the original wireguard driver, and probably also nothing with the VPN's drivers, but how they are used under windows 7.
Some providers and posts on the web claim falsely, that virus scanners or firewalls would be reasons that wireguard would not work under windows 7. I cannot confirm that (avast antivirus and comodo firewall work fine with wireguard on windows 7).

When the VPN's wireguard .conf files are loaded into the original wireguard app, it works just fine.

However, the features of the VPN's GUI/app are not available then, and one might really want one's VPN's firewall / kill switch as one might be used to it.

Re speeds, in my (multiple location) tests, on a 500mbps ISP connection, wireguard only gave about 40-120mbps, while IKEv2 gave 250-330mbps. So I have no reason to switch from high speed full featured VPN with IKEv2 to barebones wireguard with lower speed and no security or convenience features. Quite a sad result, as I expected wireguard to rock and surprise with speed at least.

Sadly, many VPNs do not have any proper wireguard implementation yet, and even if they had, their GUI features might still not measure up to the best. But why care, the speed is not there ;)
