Wireless Dongle Recommendation

Could anyone kindly recommend a wireless dongle which works with W7 please, and one which is available in my home country?

I've got to update a machine whose native motherboard ethernet chip was grilled due to a cable network power spike, and the machine has no freespace for extra cards of any sort (it's a Shuttle...)

Accordingly I'd like to use a USB wireless dongle - and it would be a big bonus if the dongle were as small as possible (there are some mini size ones available, but I've no idea if any of them work with W7).

Alternatively a USB > Gigabit Ethernet Adapter which would work under W7 x86...

Thanks, but I'm asking for specific devices which are *known* to work in a Windows7 environment. The reason for my question is that there are significant numbers of posts about WiFi and ethernet devices dropping connections or failing to work at all.

The sort of options I was looking at like this or this...

I'm more than a little hesitant about making any wireless device recommendation for Windows 7 since there are so many factors that seem to impact the situation. But since I am currently using one to write on this forum while watching fancast on my second monitor with no hiccups. I am using a Linksys Compact Wireless-G Network Adapter, Model WUSB54GSC manufactured in September of 2007. I have it plugged into an unpowered 4 port USB Hub and the Wireless Router is a very old Microsoft MN-700 (don't know who actually made it for them but that's what it says on the outside). Again, my thanks... however I'm not able to accommodate a standard size USB dongle no matter how good or proven it is - the reason being it's a Shuttle with a flap which has to close over the front USB ports.

There are other 2.4Ghz wireless devices on the rear ports and I don't want to cause problems by adding any others to those ports as they can interfere with each other through proximity.

To add to the problem the machine isn't in front of me, so whilst I can test anything on an X86 and X64 pair of computers which I do have here... I've actually yet to load W7 on the machine concerned (it's a Shuttle built on a skt478 Intel 865 board with a 3.4Ghz EE Northwood Pentium IV and 2Gb of RAM)

Wow....told you I was hesitant. It would seem to me that anything that you plugged in to those ports would prevent the flap from closing, even the smallest of usb extension cables... I sense that you have something in mind, but obviously I'm not getting it...when you get there pm me a picture

Ah, the flap and the USB faceplate hinge as one, sorry... so when a micro USB stick's plugged in I can close the front as it swivels inwards about an inch or so, and the USB device will disappear into a vacuum...

If the local cable provider hadn't sent spurious discharges down the internet cable I'd still have a functional Realtek NIC on the motherboard...
