Wireless issues with windows 7

Hello all , i think i have posted this question before, but i could not find the thread .
i have 2 laptops one XP one win 7, the XP laptop has not problem connecting and reconnecting to my network, the win7 laptop will connect at times, and once it disconnected it will not re-connect, i have just spent the past 2 hours rechecking an resetting everything on the win7 laptop, its using a intel wireless adapter 3545 ABG card, i downloaded the available drivers from dell (dell1520 laptop) in the control panel it says that the intel wireless card is not connected, but should that my network is available to connect to, i am at my wits end here, anyone have any ideas

Have one. Are you running homegroup? homegroup is for win 7 machines only. If in a mixed environment like yours you should be running workgroup. easy to verify. set up a new network connection using the workgroup model and see if the connectivity improves. Is so disable IPv6 and kill homegroup

Try the Intel page for the latest Windows 7 drivers for your intel wireless adapter 3545 ABG card.

Click on the Windows 7 advisor and see if you can get the download.

well i downloaded the intel drivers , installed, rebooted , and i am still unable to connect to my network, even tho i re-entered my key an password, i can connect if my network is open

So the password connection isn't working but with the network password turned off you can join the network?
Are you using the pre-assigned router password or did you create your own?

yes thats true.... and i created my own password

Reboot and try again, I remember I had try a few times before the password worked correctly. The router settings seemed to have something to do with it as I recall.

ok i rebooted and changed password and i am still unable to connect , when i run a diag , it tell me that the win 7 machine or the network card cannot associate with the network. the XP machine can up an connected without a problem.

Pantz, are you sure your network is set up the way you want it to work? Check your setup next to this set-up tutorial: Networking home computers running different versions of Windows.

If you havn't done so yet you should run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the Windows 7 machine. Tutorial here> http://tutorialx.wordpress.com/2009/11/12/windows-7-hidden-wireless-networks/

This can also be an issue with the wireless network adaptor on the Windows 7 machine. I'm not sure what your laptop is but we can try looking up drivers for it.

i think i may have fixed my issue ... i will wait to see if it reconnects ofter a disconnect
