Wireless Mouse Jerking

Good day to all

I bought a Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 3500 recently.

At first I used it on my old notebook PC (Asus K43SV, Intel i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz, 4.00GB RAM, Hitachi HD, 64-bit Win 7 Home Premium, bought in Jan 2011). The cursor jerked erratically when the mouse was moved.

Knowing that the notebook had become noticeably slow I moved the Microsoft mouse to use it on my desktop (Intel i5-4690 CPU @ 3.50GHz, 8.00GB RAM, 128GB SanDisk SSD, 64-bit Win 7 Pro) and moved the old Logitech M215 to the laptop.

Everything is fine with the Logitech M215 on the laptop. The Microsoft 3500 still jerks on the desktop but to a lesser extent. I changed the desktop theme from Aero to Win 7 Basic. It improved but still not as smooth as I wld expect.

On both the laptop & the desktop I had installed for the mouse the Microsoft driver 64bit ENG_10.4.0 downloaded from Microsoft site.

May Know what else can I do?

Wld it help if I set the mouse operation to higher priority? How do I do that?

You can re-charge the batteries on the mouse, see if that there is a difference.

Or you can go into Mouse Properties, and adjust the Pointer Speed.

To adjust the pointer speed:

1. In Start Menu, type "mouse" and press enter.
2. When "Mouse Properties" Window opens, click on "Pointer Options" Tab
3. Click "Apply" to test your new mouse settings.

Some mouses need a specific surface to run properly.
Most of them don't work properly over glass and work well over a opaque paper or a mouse pad.

I changed the pointer speed slower. It seems to help. Will see how it goes down the road.

Thank you for response. Yes, I knew that a mouse does not work over glass. I use it on white paper with words.

But this differs from what I knew. My understanding is that a mouse pad shd contain patterns (regular or random, including observable texture) that make it easy for the mouse to detect motion / movement + direction & extent of motion / movement. Also, we shd avoid same color as the light (e.g. red). No?

Surfaces with photos or different colors reflects the beam on a different manner making the pointer to jump.

My mouse pad has a picture of a beach with trees, clouds, water, sand, etc. and my mouse pointer doesn't jump. In fact, I can use it on any surface (didn't try glass) without a problem. Just passing on my experience.

My mouse runs well even on a glass surface. Most of them don't.
Have seen many that requires a single color surface to work properly.
I'm also just passing on my experience.

Did a little look around on the web and found some people resolved this by simply unplugging the receiver from the USB port and plugging it back in.
