Wireless N USB adaptor

I need a new wireless adapter for my PC, my old Linksys was working fine for ages even with Win 7 64bit version then all of a sudden I kept getting horrible BSOD's , can you peeps recommend me one that def works with a old BT homehub version 1. I need it to be N version as my dad will probably upgrade his router in the not so distant future.

The compatibility with your modem won't be the issue, it'll simply be the compatibility with your computer and your router. As long as the device is compatible with Windows 7 you should be fine. You can check the compatibility via the Windows 7 compatibility center.

You should also know that you may be able to fix your BSOD if you post the minidumps from your crashes in the crashes and debugging section of this forum.

The first model you suggested is the one I have at the moment and it is terrible with Windows 7

Windows 7 compatibility center does not list any USB adapters only routers :shock:

I have a USB adapter from Medialink that is wireless N compatible....I'll try to find a link to it for you.
Well, it doesn't seem to appear on Amazon.co.uk....I got it from Amazon.com here in the US. The model number is Medialink MWN-USB150N. I can't speak as to whether or not it will work with your BT homehub though.

I tried to set that up for a friend of mine a couple of days ago, and it installs and works well but DO NOT try to install the software if you do get that one. In Windows 7, the hardware will install, but if you install the software, it causes a driver conflict. Basically, you can either have the hardware installed and working, or the software installed and working, but not both.

is it a windows 7 driver it provided or a Vista one? my money would be on Vista, had this problem with my wireless adapter, it didnt recognise 7 so assumed it was XP and thus installed wrong drivers, compatibility mode>Vista would fix that,

In fact id lay money on that being the issue, as it shouldnt be installing any software on Vista/7 anyway, its all handled by the OS,

Using a Belkin N with an old XPS Gen1 laptop running Windows 7 32 Professional and a Belkin N+ with Windows 7 64 Ultimate and the PC listed in my system specs. Both are problem free with Windows 7.

It was that way with all the drivers. It comes with XP and Vista drivers on disc, but I went and downloaded the Windows 7 drivers. He really wanted to use the Linksys Wireless Network Monitor software but, no matter what I tried, I couldn't get both the software and hardware to work at the same time.
