Wireless Printing

I am trying to set up my Canon 4850 to print wirelessly on Win 7 although it does not have a built in wireless adaptor. I previously had a Conceptronic usb bluetooth transmitter and printer receiver but unfortunately the system does not work on Win 7 and crashes when I try to print. A local shop is selling a wireless printer server for about €100 ($137) which seems way too expensive.

I need some advice please on a cost effective bluetooth / wireless system that will work on Windows 7 for one printer. I would much prefer a simple bluetooth transmitter and receiver but I might consider a wireless printer server that works through my modem as long as I can get it to work and its not too expensive.

Your advice and recommendations would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

Chris

maybe not the answer you want, but in those circumstances I would consider buying a new wireless printer. I don't think the cost difference, from what you are suggesting, would be any greater.

Are you using a desktop or laptop? - Scratch that, its not important, didn't realise the printer itself wasn't wireless!!

I'd have to agree with davehc here, probably be more cost effective to buy new printer......

Thank you for your replies. Its more than an economic decision. The Canon iP4850 is one of the best in its class and can probably out perform and outlast a cheaper all in one with wireless. Replacing it is not an option for several reasons. Wireless is not my prime concern for this printer but I would like to try and find a solution if possible. There may be cheaper wireless options available that someone has heard of.

Kind Regards

Chris

Another solution would be to install the printer to an older system and then setup printer sharing. Then the Win 7 machine could print to it at will. And of course, this all depends if you have an older machine lying around juat waiting to be used for something like this. Just a thought...
