Wish to edit detail properties of files in window

I have a large number of files which I am changing the naming convention for in the Title detail and am getting frustrated having to right click for properties and anvigate tabs ebfore being able to change each one. I can see the Title of the files in the Details view of the folder they are in, but there cannot find a way to edit them in that view other than the manner previosuly stated.

That being said, does anyone know of a workaround that would allow me to change each title without aving to jump through hoops to edit them?

Welcome to the Forums Clockwork,

So if I get it correctly you want to rename multiple files at once?
If so, go to the folder they are located in, click anywhere in the folder, hit crtl and a at the same time to select all the files and then hit F2

After that you'll see that the name banner of the first file in the folder turned empty. You can now type the name you want it to have in, and hit enter. It will change all the files to that name, followed up by a number.

If you use the Details Pane located on the bottom of the explorer pages you can add or remove Title/ tags/ Name and some other basic properties just by selecting the file,
Click on Organize on the top left,
Point or click on Layout and click on Details pane,
See if that is what your looking for.

Thank you for trying, but the issue is not with the filneame, but with the Title in the metadata. I want to avoid having to -- right-click, Properties, Details Tab, rename -- for every file.

Open Windows Explorer, Navigate to and click on the file you want to change and in the Detail pane at the bottom just left click "Title" and you can edit in the box see screenshot below:



Dont forget to click save!

Or you could have a look at the batch conversion facility in the very good free program Irfanview. i reckon that will do what you want but in multiples. Download from here:

Batch File or Script

I use IrfanView to do batch conversions and resizes, but I don't think that IrfanView will batch convert the "Title" metadata field (or other metadata fields).

I wanted to do something similar.
I used FreeCommander to mass rename a group of scans (I do this regularly).
I wanted the file names added to the "Title" field.

I ended up asking my friend to write a Linux BASH script to perform the task.
It would have taken me days to write it, but it took him less than 30 minutes to create and test a working script.

I think that there is an alternative file manager for Windows that can do what you want, but I can't remember its name.

I suspect that you will have to write a script to do what you want.
