Solved wish to swap Proccessor to test original.

Hi, hoping someone can assist, after swapping motherboard in long line of checks for no bios, or any onscreen activity, I am thinking of swapping processor,(i7 3770 LGA1155) with a used Pentium G2130 . Just to test if mine is faulty, as I have tried everything else, I think. I would like offers as to if this is a good idea or not. Thanks in advance.

Hi, original supply was 230w, also tried 480w. Motherboard was Lenovo original. PC is a Lenovo K430 desktop.

Use the snid on the computer to search on the manufactures website for what exact mother board it has
You can also use that snid to see what upgrades or compatible cpu's are for it.

Yep well it does have the same socket I'm not sure if it means it's compatible though possibly someone else will know or not
Price is cheap enough to take a chance :/

I also agree its worth a shot, you might also want to check under the motherboard for a grounding issue. Perhaps some metal shaving got under there and is shorting it out? Also have you tried just one ram stick? https://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas/content/pdf/system_data/k430_tech_specs.pdf

Hi, thanks for reply, not tried for grounding issue yet, may give it a go next. Have ordered a used Pentium G2020 processor which I hope will confirm if PCU is faulty or not. Will let you know results. Did try only one stick ram, cannot get any beeps at all. Thanks for spec list. (sorry 2130 CPU)

Hi, just to update, tried new cpu, made no difference. Had motherboard checked again, tech told me board was basically ok but bios was corrupted and he could not find replacement. Does this make sense? is there anyway I can fix this? Thanks.

If the bios is corrupt you need a new board or a new bios chip put on it and that is not an easy thing to do. They could not find a same board replacement?

Hi, no, said they maybe able to get one from china but not recommended. I think I can get one from Lenovo but just wondered if I could fix own, or not worth it? Thanks.

Can you link to the board model your looking at, the difference between the h and z chipsets is the z has features like ocing unlocked cpus, more advanced bios features ect. The h is basically get a non k sku like your i7 and throw it in and just do work. No bells, no whistles.
