me and a few others on the novatech forum recently picked this one up.
The WLM program seems to crash a lot, the pinned icon shows it as running, but you cannot get the buddy list up, you open task manager and it shows as not responding, happening all the time for me now

You may try removing WLM and reinstalling it.
You can also try a
system restore to a point before the troubles.
