I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, a new motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD$H) and two Hauppauge HVR2255 cards. One is set to receive analog cable directly (no set top box) and the other to receive OTA HD digital.
I start WMC either as a part of the boot process, or after boot has completed. Then I access LiveTV, and all the HD digital channels play correctly, but the last analog cable channel I looked at does not. There is no signal.
If I step to another cable or OTA channel, then return to the first analog channel, the signal is there and plays correctly. It works until I turn the computer off or in sleep mode.
If I restart WMC a second time, all the channels come in OK.
I have looked at services for WMC Receiver Service (ehrecvr.exe), but I am lost as to the “optimal” startup type (auto-delayed, auto, manual) and log on as (local system, local service, network service).
Would it be practical to write a batch program that just runs WMC twice as a part of the WMC boot?Would that fix the problem?I am not skilled enough to do that.
I would appreciate any help.Bill Roberts

As I understand the actions of the FCC and TV Broadcasters the analog signals are history unless a broadcaster has elected to keep a transmitter for them. Some months ago one could get a converter box for those signals still provided using an external antenna but haven't seen that since. We had to get new cable boxes and also can't get analog, no longer provided. Nearly all our Digital channels have gone to High Definition.

My analog cable supplier is Cox, and I get many analog channels (CNBC, Comedy, History, etc.). If Cox ever abandons analog cable for digital, I assume my Hauppauge cards would work OK with a direct input (as they do now).
My problem isn't analog vs digital: my question is (to put it another way) why doesn't WMC "see" the first analog channel with WMC\Live TV unless I either a) switch from and return to the first channel, or b) restart WMC?? Hope this might explain my problem better. Bill Roberts

One more piece of info. If I repeatedly start/stop WMC, sooner or later I get the message "Please Wait.... looking for tuners". Then all of the channels are accessed OK. "It is a puzzlement" (from the King and I). Bill Roberts
