Ok, here's the problem. I've had windows 7 for about two weeks now, and when i first installed it every thing was fine, WMC was working the way it was suppost to with my 360. But one day it just stop working when ever i try to connect it says "contacting" then after waiting minute's for it to start it says "Connection failure".

i don't know what could have stopped it from working but its driving me crazy trying to find out what the problem is.

i tryed:

uninstalling my xbox extender from WMC, and setting it up, again with a new Setup Key.(i did this many many times now.)

Disconnecting my router and connecting my 360 directly to my laptop (wired). i even shut off My firewall on windows 7. and i have no a idea what it could be

Can some one please help me. Its making me crazy!!!! :mad2:

Once I used my routers' setup to force my Xbox to have a specified IP address, manually configued the Xbox to use that IP, gateway, etc...it connected in a blink...some routers do not autoconfigure Xbox's well, but I found that my solution solved the problem. You should be able to find info on this at your router manufacturers' website.

If you require additonal steps, please reply with the make, model and version of your router, the exact model of Xbox you are trying to setup, and also if you are using Homegroup or not - if not what have you used for LAN configuration.

It may be necesary to make sure you have the lastest drivers for your ethernet adaptor and of course we assume you have the latest updates for your Xbox.

My XBOX has the same IP address that my router assigned it. When I test the connection between Windows Media Center and my XBOX the connection is a success. I am even able to view pictures, music etc from my PC on my XBOX, but anytime I actually try to connect through WMC, the connection just sits there with the blinking lights, and finally my XBOX says, I should reboot the XBOX and try again. Any ideas?

Remove the association from BOTH devices. On the Xbox, remove it as an extender, and from WMC remove any extenders. Then start over again. If that doesn't work, remove the association again, then uninstall WMC from Windows components, reboot, then re-install WMC. Then configure teh association again.

I uninstalled the association and extender on both devices at least 5 times now. This did not correct the issue as because WMC can still not connect my PC and 360

I manually assigned an IP address, and I set up the IP/MAC address of the XBOX to the approved list in my Router Firewall and that got it started agani.
