Done all I know other than removing Quicktime...
Windows 7 is new to me...makes me long for XP.

Switched the majority of file associations from QT to WMP. Only remaining are specifically QT or just audio. Set WMP as default; set program access to not include QT as an option...tried to stipulate only WMP but the setting reverts to use current device; disabled and then re-enabled add-on for QT as it made no difference other than the internet movie not being played (stalls on page) as opposed to it playing in QT player.

The bulk of internet movies will open and play now on WMP: .mpg (mpeg) is one that will not. Sure, you can download it and play in WMP with no trouble but I do not want QT opening up the movie to 'screen' it for me. I want WMP to be the default and to act accordingly.

Rename the QT program file untill I need it? Is there a way to make this more friendly, like way back in XP?

Thanks for whatever thoughts you care to share,
David

Not exactly sure what you're trying to do here. Playing online videos requires mostly Flash, for QuickTime specific formats (like iTunes trailers etc.) you can always use QTLite, an alternative to the actual QT which does not install the actual player, just enables support in your web browser.

Even for offline videos, QuickTime is a very, very bad solution. Again, QTLite can do it instead, and should be able to play them in WMP, online or offline. Use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall and erase all traces of QT then install QTLite.
