wmp substitute for music

WMP has messed up my music organization, tags, genre,etc for the last time.

I need a substitute / replacement for playing music and managing music playlists, tags, etc. but only for music.

What are your suggestions and if possible, indicate the reason.

winamp , really good music player ,it can fetch metadata really easily .unlike wmp and for me it has a 100% record for finding info.
i dont have my music listed in winamp ,i use explorer select the album i want to play and it opens with winamp.
i have a lovely skin on the player and it is plain and simple for me to use.i rarely bother with the other winamp features i use it solely for music.
i have a beautiful icon pack the shows the media files



minimised ,sits really nicely on the bottom when im using firefox

Many thanks. I've seen other recommendations for Winamp, but had never really paid any attention. I'll create a restore point and try it out.

I use foobar2k its a really neat and small program and there are so many skins already made so you wont have a problem finding one for your nead, I use a theme from DeviantArt called minimal.

at one time in the past I used foobar2k and was impressed by the small footprint. I'm in the testing phase. Do you happen to know how well it coexists with other programs?

Media Monkey.

Why:

Full screen interface, but can be minimized
Under development for a long time
You can hide or turn off what you don't need
Burn and tag capabilities, but I don't use them
Highly customizable: the brown and green you see are mine--to reduce eyestrain
Library can be updated in seconds to add new songs
Playlists made in seconds by selecting songs or their paths on your HD

FYI: I use mp3tag for tagging.

I-Tunes has a very similar look and the early versions (4.9 from 2005) work fine for playback on Win 7 32 and 64 and have a much smaller footprint than current versions. I prefer Media Monkey because it does NOT rely on Quicktime, which I like to avoid.

I have never seen foobar crash or cause any problem to anything program I have used on my computer

MediaMonkey. It supports tagging, keeps your ratings and info and has a shutfown timer (paid version).
I love the library keyword search too.
