WMP12 How do I turn off laptop screen while music is playing? Win7 64b

Hi,
I have new Dell 2250 laptop and I'm trying to figure out a way to turn off the screen after a few minutes while I have the Windows Media Player going? I have tried this on my desktops over the years and never had any luck so I usually just turned off the monitor manually.

So far the only remedy for my laptop is just to go to >power> and choose what the lid does when you close it and chose do nothing.

on my laptop, i just press Fn + F2 to turn off the display , is there not a function key on your lappy to do the same, have a play with them

another way would be to have screensaver on and set to blank, and whatever timeout period you choose.

in wmp options /player tab there is a checkbox to allow screensaver during playback. this would be annoying if you use wmp to view movies though!

Sounds like a plan will check it out later when I get in. This is my first laptop I know nothing of the key functions yet

About 500k RAM, runs in the tray with customisable hotkey (i use ctrl-win-z) and options.

Thanks for the tip. It's right on my notebook's keyboard but it never registered in the vacuum that occupies the spce where my brain should be. I'd rep you but the *&^%$#@! forum won't let me.

FWIW FN and F2 disconnects my wifi ;-0 Is there possiby another set of buttons? I did set the WMP to screensaver mode and that works..

yeah there probably is another F key, look for one with a screen symbol and a x on it or something visually similar.
