Hello bondisdead and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm not so sure your issue is the same as the OP, so I suggest you start your own thread.
If you want to research your issue, take a look at this thread about Sleep, S1, S3, fans, lights ... it may help ...

http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...nly-sleep-command-leads-windows-shutdown.html

regards, David

Unless i misread things, I think my problem is exactly the same as the OP. If I put the computer to sleep using the start-menu, display goes out but the computer doesn't actually go to sleep. If I wiggle the mouse, it comes back normally. If I allow for the sleep timer to kick in, the computer will really go to sleep (ie. fans turns off). Sounds the same?? But if you think a new thread is warranted, I can certainly oblidge, but it seems like we already have a thread going on here.

In Post #20 (Your OP) you said

Wanted to jump in here that i have the exact same problem. On a cold boot, the sleep will work once (ie. shut down, flashing LED on power-button indicating sleep state and fans/other lights shut down). However, on subsequent sleeps, the fans stay spinning and the power is clearly on (though monitor is turned off). If you wake it from this state (S5?), it's as though you woke it from sleep. The command powercfg -lastwake is correct in reporting what woke the computer.

Maybe i misunderstood, but that sounds different than what nsainfreek (OP) said.
That's why i said your problem sounds different.

MY OPINION on starting your own thread:
This thread is still not solved for nsainfreek, and nsainfreek may start posting to this thread again.
If you are posting to the same thread, it could be very confusing for everyone.
Trying to figure out who said what to who, who tried what, what happened, ...

Have you tried everything already suggested to the OP in this thread?
Is your hardware and software identical to the OP?
Anyone trying to help you would have to read this entire thread, probably guessing as to what you tried, or ask you the same question again.

If the OP solves the issue and you do not, should the thread be marked as solved?
If you solve the issue and the OP does not, you can not mark the thread as solved.

You make good points. We do not indeed have the exact same setup. I can start a new post, and reference this thread. I am not overly optimistic about a solution, as the only posts that have been made to this thread in the last several weeks has been between us. ;-)
