Would changing compatibility settings increase performance?

"Run in 256 colors" This sounds like less complex textures so better frames.

"Run in 640x480" I know for a fact that this helps performance, but you can almost count the pixels on your screen because of how crap it looks.

"Disable visual themes" I think this includes a lot of options in "change windows appearance and performance".

"Disable desktop composition" I know for a fact that this is an option to increase windows performance.

"Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" No idea what this is but I have a high DPI mouse so maybe dunno.

I don't know for sure what the effects of these are, especially running it in compatibility mode.

Hi,
Yep you can simply switch to a windows classic theme and accomplish most of that.
Not all systems are created equally,

Just getting rid of AVG might make the largest difference ;)
Switch to Panda asap.
Remove AVG properly first download Panda's exe file to your downloads folder then run it after you get rid of AVG

Just like Norton, McAfee and others, when my AVG/ZEN 2016 Free Edition has any probs I'll junk it.
I have many on-demand scanners to cover all bases. AVG does not load my system resources so far.
