Solved WU fixed but random shut-downs and standby not resuming?

Sounds good. Let us know, just make sure you only have the SSD you want to install windows on installed, if your laptop can hold more than 1 drive.

OK so have got to a stage where OS is installed and security is 100%, all WU are done.

Everything looks fine and the Laptop is flying (startup <3s)

1st problem though, using the standard power plan and it wont sleep!, monitor goes of but that's it?

Any ideas?

You can usually use the balanced plan. If you click the start button and type sleep, then choose 'change when the computer sleeps', you should have when the monitor goes to sleep and when to put the hard drive to sleep. You should have 2 plans, on battery and whenplugged in. You should have a link there of advanced power settings where you can alter the default settings of several other items.

the problem is not when to sleep, the problem I have is it tries to sleep but just turns of the monitor?

Steve, I'm not real good with laptops, I'm a desktop person. But, when the monitor goes to sleep and when the hard drive goes to sleep are 2 different things. It could be a driver from Dell, or a bios setting. Also, you should be able in the advanced settings to set it so the computer sleeps when you close the lid. My laptop has a HECI driver that controls the Fn keys as well as the touchpad and power options. I presume Dell has a driver for that although it may be by a different name. Did you install that? Did you look in the advanced power settings for the power plan you chose?
