As the title says when I look through services.msc Wireless Zero Configuration is missing, how do you go about reinstalling this service in Windows 7 or can't it be done.

WZC is what it is called in XP. In Vista and win7, that functionality is provided by the service called Wireless Auto Configuration, or WLAN AutoConfig.

Yes this is an old thread but I am responding to it knowing people will understand what I mean.
Does anyone know how to install XP Style Wireless Zero Configuration in Windows 7 (or others)?

I was playing around with Windows XP on an oldish netbook and noticed that Wireless Zero Configuration was so much more easy to use than the Windows 7 five-bars-in-the-system-tray-thing. My problem is connecting to networks when I am at a distance from them. In windows 7 they jump around on the Wireless Network Connection list and it is hard to get ahold (ie. click and make it stay) of the ones I want and connect to them. In windows XP you don't have to worry about this because once they are detected they remain in the list and they stay PUT! All you need to do is connect to them. Has anyone made a utility for Windows 7 that is just like the XP version or functions the same?
