X-Fi Fatality Pro, Mic won't work

Firstly I have read the following post, this may save some time.

I am using a Medusa 5.1 surround sound setup with external control box and I plug it directly into my Sound blaster with jack leads. This is the card I use.

I have posted a pic of what I can see, I have tried turning off the 'line in', the 'digital in' and the 'what you hear' in order to try to get the soundcard to pick up the analogue signals. All with no success.

I have been using this setup with XP with no issues, and have just installed windows 7.

I have checked the device manager, and although I have 2 driver issues (1 for a mass storage device, the other for an 'unknown device), the soundcard appars to be fine.

I have tried using Skype and teamspeak, I can hear other people perfectly well.

The microphone is plugged into the correct port.

I downloaded windows 7 specific drivers from creative for my soundcard, and installed them when I put windows 7 on my system.

Have exhausted my limited knowledge/expertise, now I'm stuck ^^

If anyone could help I'd be very grateful.

I have managed to get the microphone working by installing the creative audio control panel. It was written for XP/Vista, but it seems to have sorted it. I had to change some mic settings in the control panel.

Now the mic works, but its on constantly, but at least its progress.

What you need is a mic with an on/off switch

You can get a good mic with an on/off switch for a reasonable price at newegg or bestbuy.

Oops, just noticed that you were using a headset. LOL It is strange that a headset made by Creative doesn't have an on/off switch for the mike.

I know this is a really late post, but I had the same problem until I opened up the audio control panel, clicked the FlexiJack tab and switched from Line-In (which seems to be the default) to Microphone mode. Presto! Worked for me anyway...
