My problem seems to be a common one, yet most people have been able to resolve it where I have not.

I have no sound. The only sound device I can see in device manager is a "high definition audio device" which I'm guessing is the x-fi card? I cannot find drivers for the x-fi supreme on the creative website. I've tried a couple of win7 creative driver packs that I've found around the internet with no luck.

I've got the latest 'soundmax' drivers from the asus website and tried to force install that driver for the "hd audio device" in device manager. When I did this, windows recognized the card as "Soundmax Integrated HD digital audio" but gives an error code 10(device cannot start). I did not think this motherboard had onboard sound, but this description led me to believe so.

I do have the card in the top slot on my motherboard (people have had issues using other slots). The led in the card does light up.

What should I do?

Thanks for your time.:D

I cannot find drivers for the x-fi supreme on the creative website.

That would be because that sound card has about as much resemblance to a X-Fi as an apple to an orange. The only thing even remotely X-Fi like about it is that it gets to use some of the X-Fi applications.

That card is nothing more than an ADI/SoundMax based card. You want drivers for it you need to get them from Asus. Same goes for the software. Creative may have sold i to Asus, but Asus is responsible for the support for it. One thing you can try is to look up other motherboards from Asus that came with the saem card, and see if they have added the updated drivers for that board.
