x64 Apps launch, *all* fail to open (not responding) *any* image files

Hi Tom,

well that made for intreresting reading.
most especially you appear to be running a non-genuine OS, theres an activation exploit showing.
The W7 Iso was downloaded from a russian torrent site, if this included the exploit then i suggest you get hold of another copy, ands if the exploit was included what else was!!!!.

As this forum does not support piracy, Rule 4- no further help can br provided until a genuine product is in use .

Roy

That's a surprise to me also. The Windows disk came in a package purchased from Tiger Direct along with the MB and Processor. The disk I used to do the Repair/Install is borrowed, so I have no idea as to its origin. But, no patch/activation was required.

Oh well. Rather than re-install Windows 7, I may as well do a clean install of Windows 10 onto a different HDD.

THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR HELP!

Tom

Hi Tom,

Use the original Tiger Direct discs, it may not be Ultimate, but should be genuine.
It will also have a different product key.

By the way W7 is not the only non-genuine program on your system.

Unless you have a valid W10 key the install will not work either.

Hi Roy,

Finally found my original Win 7 disks. My son had them. I should have thought of that sooner, as this computer used to be his.

I want to do a complete clean install of Win7, and install programs from my disks. The HDD that is currently holding the OS is 7 years old. I have removed all data from a new HDD that is installed on this PC. I want to install windows on this new HDD, and junk the current one.

PROBLEM: I can't boot with the original disk, or the disk I had been using (which has been booting successfully). BOTH disks boot my other Desktop and a Laptop. With either disk inserted into the DVDROM drive the disk is detected and and can be read by Win Explorer.

Starting the PC with the OS disk inserted, the CD drive and all HDDs are detected. I press F12 to enter the Boot Menu. Within the list are "CDROM" and the actual DVDROM: "P0-HL-DT-ST-BD-RE BH-16 NS40." I have selected each in turn with the following results:

"Verifying DMI pool data" with a flashing cursor appears. The DVDROM is accessed (blue light flashing). After several seconds, the cursor jumps to the beginning of a new line onscreen. This jump ONLY occurs if a startup disk is detected at this point. I now get a flashing cursor on screen. No error ("insert system disk" or anything like that...) appears, and nothing else happens.
