@Nekoking: I also can't connect the wireless receiver to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
I followed your link to the drivers, but this only downloads an .exe, where can I find “Microsoft Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [Date]”?
For now the LEDs blink, but it just won't connect. There is some communication though, because when I press the connect buttons they react on each other but the controller won't connect (no kwadrant lights up).

So i've specifically registered to give you a response to your above mentioned problem, because I was having the same problem, however after a bit messing around, I got my device to work.

Step 1: Download the drivers from here:
Microsoft Gaming Hardware - Download Software

W7 64bit drivers

Step 2: Plug in your device (if it doesn't detect it right away, or if it shows up as unknown, proceed to step 3)

Step 3: Go to the device manager and update the driver manually using the following method:
a) Click update driver
b) Click Browse specific Location
c) Choose "let me pick..."
d) Find "Microsoft controllers..."
e) Choose 360 Wireless receiver for windows (8/13/09)

Step 4: Your receiver should light up properly now. Please attempt to connect the wireless 360 controller by hitting the guide button on the back.

Step 5: Once connected, you can verify the controller's buttons/axis sensitivity by going to "devices and printers"

Step 6: Enjoy!!!

If for any reason the above steps do not resolve your issue, I am sorry. Please try different options and post if they work.

. it did the job perfectly. i'm usng a custom Wireless Controller for 360.

does anyone else get ghosting sometimes? All my wireless controllers ghost. SOme games I can just increase the deadzone and its fine, but games like GTA4 don't have such a thing, at least not that I know of. Other games work fine.

It's a common problem that, it happens all the time with me, if I'm playing a racing game with high sensitivity, ie/ trackmania, it veers off to the left if the dead zone isn't set.

Best thing to do to get the driver is plug your controller into your pc via your plug and play charge kit.
Your computer should automatically download the controller driver for you to select in the device options

The receiver lights up and so does the controller when turned on, when I press the Connect button on both devices they seem to detect each other immediately but the controller just keeps flashing continuously and is never assigned to a quadrant.

When I look at the Receiver in Device Manager it is listed in Hardware as MotioninJoy Virtual Xinput device for Windows.

Would appreciate any advice, have been searching online for hours but have found no solution thus far.

You have (at some point) installed Motionjoy software, which is designed to let you use PS3 or other controllers on your PC as if they were 360 controllers. That software and all drivers MUST be removed to use a first-party controller, as the Motionjoy drivers override the Microsoft ones.

If completely removing all traces of the software doesn't work, Motionjoy may have modified the Windows driver cache too much to recover without a reinstall of Windows. I had that problem with BlueSoleil breaking bluetooth permanently.

Yeah I have installed MotionJoy recently. I deleted it thru Control Panel, but I was worried a reinstall would be required to completely remove it. Thanks for confirming, guess I got some backing up to do. It'll be worth it if I can get that controller working, need a gamepad for my BF3 vehicles.

I've had this issue several times and always solved it with the drivers from Microsoft's website: Xbox 360 Accessories Software 1.2 64-bit for Windows 7
you then have to manually select the drivers for the receiver in the device manager
Right click on Computer > Manage > Device Manager > Microsoft Common Controller for Windows
It might be unrecognized at this point, I don't remember, just right click on the right entry and select update driver then go to Browse my computer for driver software... then pick from a list of device drivers on my computer and you should see Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows, select it and it should work.

i used a black wired xbox 360 controller on windows 7 64bit and it automaticly installed its self and if it dont try installing the drivers for it

ye noticed other ppl suggested drivers but shouldnt hurt if it still dont work i suggest returning the wireless one and geting a wired one . Wired ones never failed me

Thanks for the advice guys, I've fixed it without a reinstall. As dstruct2k suggested it was MotionJoy that was the problem. Had to go to Microsoft Controller for Windows in Device Manager and right click on MotionJoy and uninstall driver. That was the only way to stop it overriding the Microsoft drivers.

I can now fly jets in BF3! Awesome! Thanks for the help, this forum is fantastic!
