OK so here's my problem.

I just got a new HDTV LG LD550, it does 1080p, and all the standard inputs.

I tried connecting my pc with an XFX 5770 video card via HDMI.

The resolution was set to 1920x1080, and i noticed the pixels were not as crisp as it should be, and there was about a 1 inch black boarder around the tv that was not filled.

I then switched to the VGA input on the tv. Using the dvi-vga connector the tv now displays 1920x1080 correctly, everything is super crisp and there is no black boarder now, the whole tv is filled up.

How do I get my HDMI to display like this. Is it a setting in windows, or through ati's video card, or something on my tv. Im not sure exactly how to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

With HDTV connected via HDMI on ATI/AMD cards, you need to set the Overscan/Undescan setting.

Open CCC - Desktop & Displays - Right Click small HDTV at the bottom - Configure - Scaling - then set the overscan/underscan to 0%

Thanks for the response. The overscan/underscan settings did help and i adjusted it to fit my tv screen. However the resolution coming from the HDMI is still not as crisp as it should be, compared to the vga. Here are some pictures i took and you can see the difference very clearly. Both are set to 1920x1080 as a duplicate display.

Its driving me mad, how do i get my hdmi to look like my vga???
