Solved XFX Ati Radeon HD 6870 malfunctioning?

Hello guys
Firstly i want to say that i registrated here because i dont know what to do anymore.
I know how to fix most computer problems, but i am about to give up with this one.
Secondly, im no native english speaker, so excuse me for typos or bad grammar .
so lets get to the problem.
I recently Changed my graphics card from a palit nvidia 9800gt(old one, i know ) to a XFX ati Radeon HD 6870 because i like to play games and the old one didnt do its job anymore. I got this Card from a friend of mine cause he bought a new one and didn't use this one anymore.
I Formated my Hard drive, installed a fresh win 7 professional 64 bit and installed fresh drivers etc.
Everything seemed good after the driver installation, i was happy and shutdown the pc.
Next day, the first thing i saw when logging in to windows was that the animations seemed choppy, exactly like the ones when you use the standard graphics driver which comes with Win7.
I started googling but didnt find a fix to this, so i thought id just reinstall the drivers(14.12 by the way).
I deleted the old drivers correctly with a tool, and reinstalled them afterwards. No problems during the installation. The setup then asks me to restart my compute, which i did.
After the restart, everything was back to normal. This time i tested some games too(Cs:Go, Borderlands 2)
They ran great, smooth as butter, with csgo having around 200 fps(at lowest, 1024x768) and borderlands 2 (maxed out except physx @ 60 fps and 1920x1080).
I then restarted the computer again, and the problem reoccured. Then I tried to run the same games to test if theres a performance hit or its just a windows bug. Borderlands 2 couldnt start anymore and csgo was choppy as hell.
It seems that on the first reboot after the installation, the drivers runs as intended, but the next time you shut the pc down or restart i have to reinstall the drivers so that they run as they should.
I already thought its a hardware issue, but the card ran perfectly when my friend used it.
Id really appreciate any help and/or advice you guys can give me

Have you tried an NIVIDA Card? Seems like the graphics card is faulty but I am not sure though.

The first thing I'd check for is to make certain the Catalyst driver is the operative one when you reboot the computer by checking for that in Device Manager. If so then I'd go off the Internet and disable all of your antivirus software you have running, then reinstall (first having uninstalled) the AMD Catalyst driver. Then test the system. I might also try to find an older driver (perhaps your friend has one). Sometimes falling back to a previous driver will work.

The next thing I'd look for is heat. Take the sides of the computer off and make certain the fan on the graphics card is working. A quick check on this card at Newegg shows that some people had problems with overheating because of the fan quitting; a manufacturer response to one of the reviews dated March 2014 states that they have free fan replacements available for this card. You might also try shutting down the system to let it cool, and then use a portable fan aimed at the card with the case sides off to see if better cooling would help. If this did work then you'd need to look into adding an internal case fan.

What system did your friend have the card in? It may well be that this card simply won't play well with your motherboard, and as RoasterMen said perhaps another Nvidia card would work better.

Okay, i checked if the driver is the operating one. It is.
Afterwards i disabled antivirus and reinstalled again, which sadly brought no change.
Ill try to use an older driver soon, i didnt have time as of now.

It is definitely no heat problem. Im an overclocker and check those things everytime when i Change Hardware via a 12 hour benchmark. The card gets to 70°C at most, and that is with the fan at 40%. Cpu is 55°C at most after 12 hours prime95.

I also tried without any overclocking. No change.

Sadly i cant exactly tell which mainboard my friend uses, but i know its a gigabyte motherboard with an am3+ Socket. Ill contact him and ask him.

I really appreciate your help though, youre giving me some hope here(im a student and cant afford a new card as i only have 160 euros per month for food and stuff)

Guten Abend Lars

This might be a card seating problem, I had something similar last year. Try removing the card completely, but first uninstall all the drivers.

Refit the card, making sure it sits in the socket securely. Wait for Windows to detect it and ask if you want Windows to install drivers, let Windows install them.

Glad you got it resolved. That is the first thing we should check when a card doesn't work correctly, but sometimes the first thing we should check, we don't, instead we get on a different track of thinking such as the driver being the problem.

can someone help

i have the same radeon hd 6870 and i cant play cs go whenever i run the game it shows black screan and in midle it says "Video Mode Not Supported" i have win 10 but with my old gpu it goes normal can someone help....
and if i change the resolution on my pc it still shows video mode not suported

allso i have tryd BF4,NFS Rivals,COD MW3, in al the games it goes perfect
