Friends I have a problem! I have some software that I can only run it in XP Mode. This software receives GPS information from port forwarding at the router e.g. the units sent it back to the Ext Ip and it is then sent through Port 3924 to the pc where the software translates it into journeys.
Everything I thought would be great when I learnt of the XP mode with Windows 7, however when i checked the Ip configs of the PC they are picking up different internal ip's I started freaking abit  as oviously I have to direct the router to an IP to get the info processed.

So will this work? or am I totally screwed here? as I know my way round a PC but Im no wizard thats for sure so any help or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Many Thanks

Phil

You would need to set XP mode to use what is known as "bridged" mode meaning it picks up an IP from your router. In the settings for the XP Mode Virtual Machine, you can select "Networking" and set it to use your adapter. If either "Internal Network" or "Shared Network (NAT)" are selected, change it to your adapter (whatever brand adapter you have will be listed there whether it be Realtek, Intel, etc.). You can do this with the XP Mode running or not as it will apply this change on the fly and then it should pick up an IP from your router and you can forward a port to it.
