Have home net with 5 XP machines, one new Dell with Windows 7 (x64). Printers are attached to xp-Pro machines. Printer is Lexmark x8350. Went to Lexmark for drivers for Win 7, downloaded and executed. Loaded the (x64) drivers. Printer works fine directly attached to Win 7 machines. When printer is connected to XP, can see the machine and printer, when attempt to connect it gives "Cannot Connect error". Tried to create Local Port pointing to xp machine. Did not work. When trying to add new printer, asks for driver accepted driver installed and starts to install printer. Computer hangs on install. Help

NO, but from the win 7 machine I can open files shared on the xp machines. I went to the link you provided. From the discription it seems it solves a Vista problem of seeing other machines (XP) on net. I will download it anyway and install on the XP print server. I will let you know the result.

I downloaded it. When I ran the download, I got the message that the service pack already installed is newer that the one downloaded. Back to square one.

Caver77: I was never successful in getting the Win 7 machine to talk to the XP shared Printer. I switched the printer over to the Win 7 machine, downloaded the Win 7 driver from Lexmark. Printer worked fine. Shared Printer on Win 7. Opened the C:\Users\Public\ created new folder "XP Share". Went to XP Machine, deleted all the printers, rebooted, went to Start|Settings|Printers Faxes No printers visible. Clicked Add Printer Used the Connect to and typed \\Dellpc\Lexmark 8300 it connected and downloaded the (x86) driver. Clicked the print test page and almost fell out of my chair when the damn thing printed. Went to all the XP machines (5) and did the same thing, no problems so far. Qdos did the trick for me. Hope this works for you also, let us know.

Found Problem

Did some research and found out that windows 7 does not support my old printer which was on my windows xp machine. I am guessing that they because its such an old printer they will not come out with new drivers for it. It is an HP Deskjet 722c printer and it works fine on the windows xp machine so I guess when it goes out I will buy a new one. But for now I want to print something on my xp machine I will just have to email it or put it on a flash drive. Thanks for all the help.
