When I open Yahoo in IE8 on my Vaio notebook (Win7 64), Yahoo automatically types words (trending words) in the search box. I have 5 other Vista PCs and none of them show this weird thing.

I just bought this notebook and haven't installed my usual programs. I checked it with Norton, Malwarebytes, Spybot and Spyware Blaster and no malware was detected.

Please don't tell me it's a Win7 feature. What is going on?

Hello Chris and welcome to the forum.

Try this. Click "MORE" located on top of the search bar on Yahoo's homepage. Then click PREFERENCES in the drop down menu. Click the EDIT button next to SEARCH ASSIST. Choose NEVER and hit SAVE. This should eliminate the auto typing. The only drawback is you will completely lose search assist.
