It's a good board. Is there anything special you need for that computer, such as eSATA, etc?

I didn't check the manufacturers website, but I don't think that has a eSATA port, if that is something you will be needing.

Thanks for that! I will have a look and see.

Just checked and it does come with a two port eSATA/USB 2.0 module.

Looks like a good board,

Motherboards often arrive with one problem or another. People seem to be having problems with newegg and motherboard RMA of late.

Amazon has a really good return policy - I returned an Asus Motherboard that developed a fault within a week, no questions asked. They shipped me a new board and gave me 30 days to return the faulty one after I received the replacement. Anyhow, I don't think you would get that kind of service from newegg. Just a thought.

Thanks for your input Gene. I have bought quite a bit of hardware from NewEgg, but have never had to send anything back yet, so I wasn't aware that they had problems with customer service. That is good to know.

I had some issues with my first Asus Sabertooth motherboard and two Intel 520 SSD's and I could not have asked for Newegg to be any better with RMA and returns. They even sent me an email on the Samsung 830 I ended up getting for a few dollars off right after I got off the phone with the guy. I sent back the mobo and SSD together, got a new mobo and SSD, had to send that SSD back, and got the Samsung, all in about 2 weeks. I was up and running in a relatively short time thanks to their CS. I guess their CS is hit and miss just like all other companies out there.

Thanks Kelly! The only time in all the years I have owned computers that I had to send something in for repair, was my HP Laptop, which developed bad sectors on the HDD and the LAN port went bad. HP customer support was awesome in fixing my laptop and getting it back to me in about a week. But I have the Pro Books, which is the business addition and I have heard the support is better than for the regular consumer.

It is definitely better than regular customer service. I think I hate dealing with HP support over anybody else! I have never dealt with their business support though.

Newegg has an issue with bent CPU pins. They automatically consider it customer damage and will refuse to replace it or refund the money. Been there, done that. Read the reviews. As GeneO said, no such issue with Amazon.

In particular there were these with recent issues with newegg RMA (take them with some salt, some bashing):
Newegg RMA Technicians Are Breaking My Returns - Page 16 - [H]ard|Forum

http://www.overclock.net/t/1332062/newegg-damaging-my-rma/0_20

among a few.

Personally, I avoid newegg for anything that is easily breakable as their packing has been pretty shoddy.

if Amazon, make sure it is "Sold by Amazon" and not a third party.

The board has good features and you will be happy with it probably if you get a good one. I look at the customer reviews. It has 75% 4 and 5 eggs, which is pretty good. The only thing that concerns me is the 20% 1 and 2 egg reviews. That means to me you have a 20% chance of getting a bad one. So, it boils down to how much risk you're willing to accept. If you get a good one, it has a lot of good features and should do whatever you need to do. Just hope you're not one of the 20% and have bent CPU pins. The last board I bought from there had the bad pins. The only thing that saved me is the first thing I do is look at the pins, so I was able to say I had never put a CPU in it. It was still touch and go. My good fortune is I called Customer Service about 30 minutes after I received it. Had I waited a day, I would still own a paperweight. So said Customer service. And, trust me, I have spent several thousand dollars at Newegg. That fact was never taken into consideration.

The Pro is a good board but it has a couple of legacy PCI slots you will never be able to use unless you have one or two ancient boards. This one is newer and better if you can swing the extra shekels it takes to get it.

The Pro is a good board but it has a couple of legacy PCI slots you will never be able to use unless you have one or two ancient boards. This one is newer and better if you can swing the extra shekels it takes to get it.

That is something to think about, thanks!
