YouTube and Closed Captioning?

All of a sudden every YouTube video that has closed captioning will automatically show the closed captioning on screen. Prior to this, if I want closed captioning to show (which I do not want 98% of the time) I simply could click the “CC” button at the bottom of the YouTube window.

I Googled the problem and the fix I found is to log on to your YouTube account and turn off the CC function all together (and it turns off other things, as well) which makes it unavailable.

This won’t work for me as I don’t ever log on to YouTube to watch videos, so the ‘settings’ trick doesn’t work for anyone just going to YouTube. Even if it did work for all users I don’t want to have to log in and change settings back for the rare chance I would like CC; there’s nothing I want to see bad enough to go thru the hassle.

Any ideas on how to turn off this mysterious automatic CC that started all on its own?

Running the latest rev of Firefox in Win 7 pro.
