Solved YouTube Problems

Recently I've been having trouble getting some videos to work properly. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it, some vids load up and play okay and some vids flatly refuse to load. They either load part way then freeze with the spinning dial in the centre, or they simply don't load at all and display a message saying to come back later. I've tried it on both my computers and the same thing happens on both. Is the trouble with YouTube, my Internet provider, a virus/spyware, or am I looking for something else? All I know is I've done scans with AVG, Malwarebytes and Spybot (programs I've had for years) and none of them have picked anything up.

If you're using Flash Player you can try and go to this page: YouTube and request the HTML5 player. If that works better it's a Flash problem.

Well, it seems to have helped. Vids that weren't working before are now working, but not all of them. So what's wrong with the player that wasn't wrong about a week or so ago that I needed to go to that new player just to get some YouTube vids to work?

Hi,
You really haven't said which is the browser your using and which ones you tried

An example is ie10-11 do not even need Adobe shockwave object/ Flash player to view youtube videos
And you don't need to use the html5 option because it's irrelevant for modern browsers,
If you want to force youtube to show html5 disable flash player

I mostly use IE, but I tried Firefox on my other computer and it wasn't working on that either. What version of EI I use I have no idea. I just use whatever Microsoft sends me in updates. How do I check to see what version I'm using?

Click Help or Tools and About.... to get the version.

Hi yes Alt+HA or Gear symbol on the top right and About Internet explorer
Verify flash is installed,

Uninstall flash if needed, (recommended)

Download flash,
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
Firefox uses a different version of flash visit the site using Firefox after uninstalling flash in it,
