Any time I start a YouTube video play (or as a matter of fact other Internet video), it starts to play and stops and freezes after a few seconds and will not restart the computer unless I go to Task Manager, delete the item and restart the process. Can this be caused by a recently installed router?

What browser are you using? Is this happening with multiple browsers or just one in particular?

I haven't tried safe mode yet (computer or Firefox safe mode?), but am having a similar issue with my W7 desktop (ethernet connected) and my XP laptop (wifi connected). It doesn't matter what browser I use.. FF, Chrome, IE. The video will play for 20-30 seconds, then the video portion will freeze while the audio continues for a short while... then it quits altogether and the time bar resets to 30 seconds max... as if the video (no matter how long) is only 30 seconds long.

Strangely, my gen 1 iPad plays videos via wifi with no issue. ;)

If it is multiple PCs on multiple browsers, then yes, the new router is definitely a likely suspect. A Guy

New router? That wasn't in my mix.

I've now tried FF Safe mode... no change. Also restarted the PC in safe mode and no change. Even the kids' Win 8.1 laptops are having the same issue.

But the iPad runs youtube videos without issue.

I'm thinking Flash has to be the culprit.

Probably a router issue if it is affecting multiple pc's with different OS's and different browsers.

Sorry, the original poster in the threads said "Can this be caused by a recently installed router?". It's hard to keep track when you piggyback on another thread.

But the common would be the router. Is the modem separate? Can you connect directly to the modem and test?

Good question. I'll have to try that and bypass my wireless router. But it's been working fine in the past... and no changes. So I don't expect to find any issue there.

I'm thinking that since my iPad has no issue, it must be flash related.

Agree about tagging onto an existing post, but I figured the issues might be related and thought it worth adding to the existing thread. Perhaps that wasn't a good idea afterall. ;)

Since you started here the same month as me, I'll let it slide ;)

I've learned to not accept "it's been working fine all this time, so that can't be it" Ask the BSOD team, they commonly find the cause is something unchanged for years. But eliminating possibilities is part of the process, if we eliminate the router, then we are looking at other commonalities. A Guy
