    Hello Saurav,

If folks do not have knowledge about file types, then that is what we are for to help with. They only need to post and provide details about their issue for us to be able to help. :)

I didn't put all of them in the same file because it would be to large, and everyone may only want one or so file extensions reset to default associations and not all of them. This way it makes it much easier to only download the ones you need to apply.

I do not work for Microsoft. I'm only an individual that helps people by providing fixes like this, and was given a MVP award by Microsoft for doing so.

I did provide a batch file a while back that would create a single zip file of all the fixes. Did you ever take a look at it Shawn?

    Hello Rich,

Yeah, but I'm not sure if I want to have one that resets all of the file extensions back to default since most people perfer to only reset specific ones instead.

Perhaps, one where the user could type or select the file extensions they want to be reset would be great.

Agree that would be the neat way to do it. But for now, being able to download a single zip file that contains all the fixes would be nice, at least for some people.

Need to think about the interface to have a singe (or multiple) zip file that can be accessed to run the fix for a specified extension. Shouldn't be hard to do, even with a bath file but with Powershell or VBS definitely.

The .exe file type restore solved what I thought was the only incorrect file type association problem. Could you add .hex and .sh fixes too? Thanks!

    thank you

My AVG virus software detected trojan.fakealert, and while it quarantined it just fine, I could no longer run any .EXE files.

Your reg fix saved me and I didn't even have to reboot my system or log out!

    Really grateful.

If anyone else has this issue, I found if you go Start > Computer and then find your User Name and open your Favorites folder, you can click on one of the web links and your browser will still open. : )

    Cheers!

    Hello Dr Mrinal,

Sorry, but that issue is not an association issue, so this tutorial would not be able to help with that.
