(Solved)The current video card cannot display Aero effects. virtualbox

Running windows 7 x64 pro host and windows 7 x32 guest
Any known solutions? I have decent physical hardware so that shouldn't be a problem! latest quad core i7 CPU and beefy DX11 capable graphics hardware plenty of memory

Already enabled 3D and 2D acceleration and set the video memory size to 256MB in virtualbox settings options so that shouldn't be an issue either
Installed Guest Additions in safe mode and made absolutely sure i checked the enable experimental 3D.

Guest os still reports
The current video card cannot display Aero effects.
When I try to run the Aero troubleshooter and clicking on an aero theme does not give me the aero glass either.

Problem solved by installing VMWare Workstation and uninstalling virtualbox. and switching to VMWare 3D options enabled instead of disabled.

Your awesome for reading this.
Hi there

Ensure on BOTH VM systems that the "additions" are installed on the VM after initial boot - and updated if you update the software.

On VMware it's VMWARE TOOLS and on VBOX it's VBOX ADDITIONS. These sort out things like Video drivers etc -- if you've ever run for example a Windows 95 or Windows 2000 VM on a large monitor and you want full screen - back when those OS'es were around VGA (640 X 480) was often the best resolution you could get !!!!! 60 inch stuff was way out in the future !!.

Over the years I've always found VMWARE to be more reliable and certainly have less problems with VM's -- but like all these things it's YOUR CHOICE of course.

Hardware acceleration and 3-D graphics seems to be far superior also in VMware these days too - I haven't tested the most recent version of VBPOX though.

Cheers
jimbo

That was the first thing i did to try to get aero to work by the way. and in virtualbox it just said my video card driver does not support aero even though i could still get openGL and some basic 3D programs to run in hardware mode.
so the solution? dont use virtualbox if you want aero glass in a virtual machine. VMWare seems to work flawlessly and is much more stable from what i can tell
