My computer (from lenovo) came with windows 7 (home). Because I run a domain within my lan, I purchased and downloaded windows 7 64 bit professional. Today I downloaded and ran System Mechanic pro (trial version) from Iola site. After running it and rebooting, my system shows that the system is not activated (windows is not genuine is show on desktop). After I ran MGADialog the log files show Genuine state set to non-genuine (0x00000000) for application Id 55c92. Also MGADialog showed :

I even rolled back to a restore point prior to all of this and it still shows the above issue. Unfortunately I do not seem to have my product ID for activation. I hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

This is possibly evidence of a failed hack to circumvent activation/validation.

From where did you purchase this upgrade?
What form of upgrade was it? (Anytime Upgrade/Retail Upgrade/OEM System Builder/Full Retail License?

Noel,

Thanks for the quick reply. A couple of points:
1) I purchased the windows 7 upgrade (to professional) from Microsoft web site and have been running it with no problems (until today) for 3 plus years.

2) I do not have a copy of my activation key (doh).

3) There is a utility (ProduKey) that theoretically finds (if possible) the product activation key. It reports the following:
ProductID: 00371-OEM-8992671-00437
ProductKey: 237XB-GDJ7B-MV8MH-98QJM-24367
4) If I run the Microsoft Validation tool (legitcheck.hta) it has reported a) all is legitimate once and b) running evaluation version of windows that has expired.

5) If I entered ProductKey from above when trying to activate it : the software licensing service reported that the computers BIOS is missing a required license.

6) If I try to "fix" the bios issue with lenovo flash utility. It stops and says "Missing BIOS directory"

I entered a lot of information, I am sure some of it does not pertain. Bottom line, I purchased legit OS with legit key (that I do not know) and it has worked for quite awhile. Problem was after I ran System Mechanic. I am now stuck. Hope you can help.

Mike

You should be able to recover your product Key from the MS store by signing into your account there - or from the email they sent you at the time.

Without that Key, there's nothing we can do for you here, I'm afraid.

going through the rest of your points...
3) Yup - the Lenovo OEM_SLP Key and ID - found on all legitimate installs of Pro on Lenovo machines when they leave the factory. The Key cannot be activated online or over the phone - it relies on Certificates in the BIOS (the SLIC table) and licenses in the OS recovery media to be able to self-activate aat every boot.
4) the legitcheck.hta tool is inefficient at best - and for use purely in cases where the normal validation fails because ActiveX is non-functional.
5) (see 3 above)
6) There is no issue in your BIOS - it's exactly right for your machine.

If you can't get your Key using either method above for any reason, try contacting the MS Store - they may be able to assist.
