No problem CLAIRE39! That's why we're here, to help others with their computer issues!
Copied links into search? There are no instructions to copy and paste links into searchbox. If you're referring to the blue hypertext links, they are links you left-click on.
All linked applications you should install, except, Windows 7 ISO which will be the last item.
Take your time and carefully read the instructions. Proceed one at a time, rushing through a procedure you are not familiar with can lead to mistakes (experience speaking here!)
If you have issues with Disk Cleanup Extended, I have a batch file you can use to run that. It's identical to the one described in the tutorial.

Hi these are the three links I tried to get the logs you requested.
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS.log.
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log.
C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log.
These were in black ink
Do you now have Internet access on your ailing computer?
Have you heard of TeamViewer? TeamViewer service enables a secure remote desktop access. Click on the blue link and you can read about it. Would you consider permitting me to access your computer remotely to provide assistance? This would alleviate the necessity to provide detailed explanations, which I try to do. You will be able to watch exactly what is being done. I could even open notepad and type in what I'm doing so that you may follow along, and yes, you could type into notepad as well, if you have any questions. Please seriously consider this request.
Now on to your Post #23 Those are not links, they are the location of the requested files on your computer.
For example, click on , on the right side you will see computer, click on it. In the window that appears, find your C: drive, should be the first drive listed (C:)
Double-click on it, scroll down to Windows, double-click on it. Scroll down to almost the bottom, and you will see WindowsUpdate.log, copy and paste it to your desktop. Simple Yes!
The same procedure with a few more subsequent steps will get you to the CBS.log.
When you see a name followed by / the name following it is the next folder you will be looking for, follow the path and you will arrive at the file. Try it a few times and you'll become an expert!!! Simple Yes!
The CheckSUR.log is a temporary file in the CBS folder, it is only there for a short period of time after you run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT). It will be in the CBS folder.
Give me a bit and I'll create a batch file for you that will locate the requested files and place them on your desktop.
Do you know how to open a zip/compressed folder?
Nic
Here's the batch file in a Zip/compressed folder
CBS CheckSUR & WindowsUpdate Logs to Desktop.zip
Click on it,
On popup click open with radio button
Double Click on the file inside it entitled: CBS CheckSUR & WindowsUpdate Logs to Desktop
A blank CMD window will open, the files will be placed on your desktop and then the blank CMD window will close.
Close the popup
To place those files into an zip/compressed folder
- Click on one of them, then press and hold down the Ctrl key. While pressing the Ctrl key, click the other two files. Then release the Ctrl key
- All three files should be highlighted. Right-click on one of them, in the context menu that appears, scroll down to send to, and hover your mouse cursor on it.
- In the side window that opens, choose compressed folder.
- The files are now in a zip/compressed folder. Simple Yes!
To upload to SevenForums:
- Below the post window, click Go Advanced and scroll down to Manage Attachments, Click on that, in the popup window click on Browse, upper left corner click on Desktop.
- Locate the zip folder you just created and click on it. The name of the folder will appear in the box at the bottom of the window, click open
- You will see the name of the file appear next to the Browse button.
- Click on very top upload button.
- It will appear in the section current attachments
- Close the window.
When you post it will be attached to your post. Simple Yes!
