    Internet Explorer 7?

I know you may ask why, but I want to try and use Win7 as my main computer here at work and we use a ticketing software thats all web based (BMC its called) and is about where i spend half my time and I just can't get that sucker to work properly in IE8. Whether its IE8 on my XP SP3 machine or on the newly installed Windows 7 machine. Tried Comparability Mode within IE8, tried Developer Tools to change it to IE7 mode..it gives "error on page" and doesnt load the bottom part of the page.

So i downloaded IE7 from MS and the install halts saying its not supported on this OS version.

Any help to get IE7 loaded on windows 7 would be ideal!

Before you ask, the software does not work in Chrome, Firefox or Opera.

    Hello djxstream,

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Have you tried installing IE7 in compatabiltiy mode (Vista RTM) and run as administrator?

I don't think you can get IE 7 installed on W7.

I have read that IE7 portable, can be used within Windows 7. I know nothing about it, but I believe it can come up with a few bugs. Here is one link I found.

    thanks for all your suggestions:

IE7 portable wouldn't even load in Windows 7

Firefox 3.05 w/ IE Tab and the sites host added to the site filter option, so that it automaticlly goes to IE: it loaded the splash screen then crashed firefox at the logon screen.

and i just tired Maxthon2 as suggested by an employee here. It's an IE based browser, but I guess it uses the IE core that's on the machine rather then it's own. As it worked perfectly with the site in my XP machine, but same exact error on the Windows 7 build.

Anyone know a 3rd party browser that uses IE7 or 6 as it's core regardless of what's installed by MS?

Avant? I have it as a second browser. Quite a lot of options to set up but once done it is very smooth.

    no dice =(

i even tried with this addon in IE7 mode

Avant Browser • View topic • Avant switch between IE7 and IE8 beta

looks like my options are dwindling down to a XP virtual machine w/ IE6 or 7 installed.
