I don't use internet explorer, I have Firefox set as my default.

I noticed when I'm running CC cleaner that it is cleaning up a lot of Internet explorer files. Not sure why this would be since I don't use it at all, ever.
Is there a way to remove this from the system completely?

Its intergrated in winows and used by other software like outlook so it may be other software using its engine

I don't use Outlook, what else might be using it?

Still would like to get rid of it.

Any program that is tied to the OS like Windows Media Player will use IE files. Thus is why you are constantly seeing them to trash in Ccleaner.

Now you know, and knowing is better than nulling (not knowing). LOL

Something to consider. GitHub - MoscaDotTo/Winapp2: A database of extended cleaning routines for popular Windows PC based maintenance software.

Every once in a while I run Ccleaner and System Ninja. Leave System Ninja's options by default if you don't know what a folder config. file is. I use an old version of Ccleaner though.

I shouldn't have to tell you that you should dump so-called "old and unused" registry entries. That's just snake oil. You only mess with that for certain stuff like force removing a game or program. In which case Revo Uninstaller will be more suited for such purposes. Over 14 years ago I did it by hand! :sleepy:
