Solved How do I get rid of Babylon ?

Hi.

I have issue with Babylon. How do I get rid of it?.

you may try the easiest way that is uninstalling it from add/remove programs.and the 3rd and 4th steps by me on this thread http://www.sevenforums.com/software/198401-cant-remove-ask-com-search-program-2.html#post1666276 may help you do that

Sorry, I didn't mentioned, that Babylon is not visible in add/remove.
The Babylon string here persist in InternetExplorer->Tools->InternetOptions, and
will not get removed.

you mean it sets it self back again? :eek:

thats weird.
what antivirus do you use? also, when did you install babylon toolbar? or it got installed with another program?

Yes, that is what I mean.

I used Security Essential.

I'm not sure where Babylon got installed

hi again, thanks for the screenshot. i see there's no babylon installed there.
i'm posting a step by step screen shot sequence for you. this is for internet explorer if you want,
i will post the same for mozilla too

go to tools>internet options>click on use blank>apply>ok

go to tools>internet options again and on search click>settings>first apply default to either google or bing (whichever you have)

then select babylon & just remove it

Many thanks for your guide.

I went through it, but it wouldn't do the trick.

When I first do the use:blank, apply and ok, and after went back to Internet Options, the Babylon string appeard there again :shock:

wonder why that happened

i think you may have to do a system restore. but before going to that let us do the normal steps

.. have you tried removing the toolbar from internet explorer?

That's a mystery. The issue has been there for a while, and as such there's no restore option to use.
I uninstalled Google search and rebooted.

The same issue persist

by restore i meant this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html it will take your windows to an earlier point if you want it to. so you could take it to a point where you remember installing that software that got in the babylon. but why did you uninstall google search? and you don't have the tool bar remove option in internet explorer either?

you can uninstall the firefox's ones like this just go to addons, disable and remove.

Hi again.

I know what you mean about restore, and it also was I was commenting on, but as said, the issue has last a while, and as such the culprit are to be found in the restore's too :-(

What I tested with, was uninstalling IE9, and that went on very fast.

What has lasted longer is the reinstall of it.

I get up a window saying, that Windows Explorer should be closed. I let the IE9 setup do the job, but it didn't happened so.

Then I did the trick by open start, and click ctrl shift, and right click. Then the whole screen disappered, and nothing could be done.

Do you know how to handle this issue ?

since when exactly are you having this problem with babylon? is it just a few days that it got installed in your computer? I'm not sure if i'lll be able to help you to get rid of it completely but i'll see what i can do

. when you say your explorer is exiting im guessing you may have virus or malware. so please do a complete scan with microsoft security essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials & download the free version of malwarebytes http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyt...4572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button, and post back with the results. it if detects anything, remove them

Run a Malwarebytes Scan

If that doesn't pick it up try an SFC Scan

Then try changing it.
