Black screen when turned on

I was attempting to edit authui.dll, when I restarted my computer I got a totally black screen. Now everyone seems to have a hard time understanding this. When I start my computer up I get a black screen, no matter if it's a normal started up or in safe mode. I'm totally unable to login or do anything, the screen turns black before anything comes up. Does anyone know what I should do.

Hi niotic,

Do you have your Win 7 DVD or Win 7 64bit recovery disc?

Boot from your windows dvd/recovery disk and run a system file check to replace the original files -

SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

Check your drive is C and type:

sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows

You should get a message after scan saying windows resource protection has sucessfully repaired some files.

Type exit and click restart.

If you dont have a recovery disc:

Post back any progress

Cheers

Unfortunately I do not have a disk. So I'd like to try the usb option. But I cannot find a place to get this .iso boot thing. I dont even know what it is and even less so what to look for. Could you please give me some insight? I really need my computer back online.

Hi,

Firstly make sure you motherboard is capable of booting a USB drive,
if not your computer won't be able to make use of this bootable USB.

You can change the boot priority in the BIOS.

Please look at Step 1 and Step 2 of this tutorial here:

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

The Win 7 install (SP1) ISO is there and also the tool to install it to a USB drive.

Then follow my first instructions.

Cheers
