I managed to install the drivers for:
Belkin : Wireless G USB Adapter
also known as F5D7050
on my Windows 7 64 bits computer. Here's what I've done:

  1. I went at the download section at Belkin:Belkin : Support : F5D7050 Drivers
  2. Even if mine was version 1xxx, I got the 4xxx drivers (RAXWN4501H)
  3. Copied f5d7050v4010setup.exe on the desktop
  4. Don't plug the USB yet, if you installed drivers previously, remove them (uninstall program section)
  5. Right click > Compatibility > Run for Windows Vista - Run this as an administrator > OK
  6. Follow the setup process
  7. It will say:Please, plug your usb dongle now
  8. Do so, and you're done.

I fixed it!

Short, to the point instructions:

1. Unplugg Belkin wireless USB adapter
2. Uninstall Belkin software in Control Panel > Uninstall a Program
3. Delete a file in your system32 folder called netr70.sys
full path: C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\netr70.sys
4. Are you sure your Belkin softward is uninstalled? If not, repeat step 2.

4a. Go here- Belkin : Support : F5D7050 Wireless G USB Network Adapter - Drivers
Download the file that matches the FCC number on the back of your device. Instructions are on that site.

5. Plug in device when it asks.

If it still doesn't work you may have to:

6. Go to the device manager
under Network Adapters right click on your Belkin Wireless Device (if it isn't showing here then you have a worse problem) and click Update Driver

7. Select "Install from a specific location on my computer"
8. Browse to "C:\windows\system32\" hit ok,
- Check "subfolders"

Click next,

THEN it should work.

Story:
I did an optional windows update (stupidly, I see now) for my Belkin dongle and it broke it by installing an older version of the driver (the file called netr70.sys) to which it kept defaulting.

Once you delete the netr70 it should revert or update to the netr73 file that installs with the latest drivers here:Belkin : Support : F5D7050 Wireless G USB Network Adapter - Drivers

Hi Guys,

I have had fun with my Belkin adapter before (including the intermittent connection issue). After removing my PSU and other bits to play with my new Carputer, I reconnected it all and couldn't get Belkin stick to recognise any networks after re-install. After trying all of the above and extensive googling, I solved the problem as follows - apologies if I have paraphrased the process somewhat, but going off what I can remember and I think most of us have some clue about computers, being on this forum!:

(mine is a V4 adapter, but may well work for others)

DO NOT USE THE COMBINED DRIVER APP OFF THE BELKIN SITE - USE THE BELKIN 'DRIVER ONLY' VERSION BELOW This worked when all else failed!

1) Remove and previous installations by running old installer, which will uninstall if currently installed, or removing via Control panel
2) Download the driver only .exe package from: Belkin : Support F5D7050 Wireless G USB Adapter - Driver Only Packages
3) Remove wifi adapter from usb port and Reboot computer
4) Once back in W7, plug in adapter - installation should fail
5) Go into device manager and find adapter - should come up as something like 'USB 2.0 Adapter' with a yellow exclamation mark
6) Right click and go to Update drivers
7) Choose to Browse manually and point it at the installation directory (default is c:\Belkin\F5D7050v4 I think)
8) Once installed, should change network systray icon to orange 'Networks available' icon
9) Double click, select your router/access point and enter your wep/wpa etc key
10) Voila - reconnected!

I'm soooo happy as this has taken me 2 hours of furious laptop searching, with Internet stone dead on PC and trying everything, to get it to work... Hope it helps someone!

P.S. If you have any of the same hardware as me and are having problems with it, please contact me on [email protected] as I may be able to help - I have troubleshooted most issues over the past couple of years!

You may decide to cut your losses and buy a Darktop WiFi USB adapter from Amazon for GBP 6.99. Worked perfectly first time.
